Website Redesign

This is a screen shot from the opening page of Edgewater Crossing, which is a manufactured housing community located in Cicero, Indiana. It was originally created back in the early 2000s. Since the pages creator is no longer associated with them, the site has fallen back on the owners hands and he felt a major change was needed especially due to the current economic times. The main concern is that the page neither engaged nor did it excite the viewer about the community.

Below is a mockup I had done in Photoshop after interviewing with the client numerous times and discussing what was needed and wanted.

This is a screenshot of the final index page to the site. After brief discussions with the client, there were only minor alterations that he felt were needed. The color scheme was chosen to both represent the geographical location of the community and because it's the colors associated with the logo/design of the community.

Midterm reworking 2

Not long after my adjustments to our encryption login screen, my boss asked me to come up with a desktop background. This would possibly be deployed with the WINDOWS 7 builds we create as the default desktop. I had already made a few logos (variations) for our sections IT department, nothing fancy.

This was the semi-final design...

Then I added a gradiant...

Everyone seemed to like this design so I decided to proceed with thinking about creating/incorporating it into a desktop image. My first intention was to simply expand the gradiant and center the logo.

It looked promising but I also had to incorporate the Riley and IU logos to distinguish our computers from Clarian ones, in terms of support. In addition to grabbing the other logos, I changed the gradiant to reflect more of the Windows 7 color scheme. Below is my first attempt.

Upon testing it out, I found that while the 'R' was perfectly placed, the other logos were both too big and too close to one another. So for the final one I minimzed them and put more of a gap in between them.

Midterm reworking 1

At my job, every laptop that we've set up is encrypted for patient confidentiality reasons. Below is the desktop log in screen that was bundled with the software. This appears after the OS has loaded rather than the familiar CTRL+ALT+DEL screen.

Since we were using it on our systems, my boss asked me to customize it so that it included our logos. Below is the desktop that we're currently using. I had to move some of the logos around and resize them as well.

While everyone loved what I did, I would be lying if I didn't say that there are some things I know aren't right. While they aren't noticeable to most, I know they're there and I wouldn't be doing my photoshop teachings justice if I just let them be and not attempt to correct them.

In addition to the corrections on the original alteration, I thought it would be good practice to try and recreate the original from scratch but with the specifications added. Below is one of my submissions for Midterm.
